About Chris Brown

Chris Brown brings over five decades of specialist experience in cable jointing, technical training, and high‑voltage installation practices. His career began with a four‑year Cable Jointing Apprenticeship at the North Western Electricity Board (1974–1978), establishing a strong foundation in power network operations and safety-critical engineering.

In 1991, Chris was appointed Cable Jointing Instructor at the Daniel Training Centre in Chorley, where he developed and delivered practical and theoretical training to engineers across the sector. His career progressed internationally in 1993 when he joined Raychem in Munich as part of the Training & Development and Laboratory Technical team.

Returning to the UK in 1995 with Raychem, Chris served as a Technical Service Engineer supporting DNOs nationwide. His work included training delivery, field support, and contributing to the development of 11kV and 33kV resin‑filled Shrinkset jointing accessories.

In 2015, Chris joined Jointing Tech as Technical Training Manager. He is a fully accredited outsourced TE High Voltage (145kV / 170kV) Trainer and an accredited 3M Medium Voltage Accessory Trainer.

Today, Chris’s responsibilities include:

  • Managing customer, supplier and internal technical enquiries and providing accurate kit selection guidance
  • Delivering internal staff accessory familiarisation training
  • Conducting termination and joint breakdown investigations
  • Developing tailored training programmes that meet varying levels of candidate experience
  • Producing bespoke customer installation instructions aligned with manufacturer approvals
