Tapes Electrical, Abrasive, Mastic & General
Jointing Tech supplies tapes for cable jointing, electrical insulation, sealing, surface preparation, corrosion protection, general maintenance and site use. Our range includes PVC insulating tapes, self-amalgamating tapes, mastic sealing and insulating tapes, abrasive tapes, cotton, varnish and glass tapes, anti-corrosion tapes and general-purpose adhesive tapes.
Tapes are essential supporting products for many cable and electrical applications. However, the right tape must be selected for the job: a general-purpose tape is not necessarily suitable for electrical insulation, environmental sealing or a specified cable-jointing system.
PVC insulating tape is widely used for suitable electrical insulation, colour coding, bundling and general electrical work. Self-amalgamating tape can form a cohesive seal around compatible applications, while mastic tapes can provide sealing and filling properties where specified. Abrasive tapes are used for preparation or surface treatment, and anti-corrosion tapes can be used as part of compatible corrosion-protection systems.
Before selecting tape, consider its intended function, operating voltage where relevant, temperature, UV exposure, moisture, chemical contact, substrate and required durability. For cable joints and terminations, use only the tapes specified or approved by the joint or termination manufacturer.
Correct application matters. Clean and prepare the surface as needed, ensure proper overlap and tension and adhere to the manufacturer's instructions for the product used. Improperly applied tape may fail to insulate, seal, or adhere as intended.
For technical support, provide the application, cable or component details, environment and the performance required from the tape.
FAQs
What is PVC insulating tape used for?
It is commonly used for suitable electrical insulation, colour coding, cable bundling and general electrical tasks.
What is self-amalgamating tape?
It is a tape designed to bond to itself when applied correctly, creating a continuous wrap around suitable cable or component applications.
Can general adhesive tape be used for electrical insulation?
No. Use a tape specifically rated and intended for electrical insulation where electrical performance is required.
How do I choose a mastic tape?
Confirm the sealing requirement, substrate, temperature, environmental exposure and compatibility with the wider cable or equipment system.
Need help choosing tape?
Contact Jointing Tech with the application and environmental conditions for product guidance.
