Power Supply

Power Supply

A power supply is a component that supplies power to at least one electrical device, receiving power from an electrical outlet that is converted from AC (alternating current) to DC (direct current).

All power supplies have a power input where it receives electrical current from a power source such as the power grid or solar power and typically converts it into electrical energy.

There are different ways to categorise power supplies for example a regulated power supply which is one that maintains a constant output voltage.  There is also an unregulated power supply where the power supply can change or an adjustable power supply, that’s where the output voltage or current can be programmed.

As a Group, Jointing Tech and divisions have been working closely with the renewables and other markets to support the power supply into the UK’s electricity generation targets of increase renewable power use to 30% by 2020
